It was a tough day at the office for the Indian Land High School Track Team. The Upper State Meet which took place May 7, 2011, formally introduced the runners to the new AA level of competition. The day was long and hard but Indian High School Track Team Boys survived to go to the next level, State Championships.
The Girls Track team experienced an upset with no female qualifiers this year. “The girls gave 110%. We have a young team, we were in a new division, and I can’t say that I’m not proud of them,” says Indian Land girls track coach Coach DJuana “D” Fitzpatrick. “We asked for their best and that’s what we received. Many of the girls set personal records. Can’t complain about that.”
The school record was broken by James Gregory in the 3200m. He ran a 10.55.30. Travis Butler too ran a personal best of 2.05.00 in the 800m. The effort of all the runners were impressive as 8 advance to the state qualifying meet.
