Boys Win AA Regional Girls Place Scond

It was quite clear to Indian Land Track Team when stepping off the bus upon arriving at Cheraw High School that this meet was not like the others. Once the regional meet arrives, its win or go home from then on. Sure the goal of the day was to win the Regional Meet, but the ultimate achievement for the new AA school would be to win the State Championships.
The Indian Land track team put on an impressive performance with the team’s veterans leading the way. First place finishers include:
Jerell Robinson - High Jump/Triple Jump
Travis Butler- 800m
Rondreas Truesdale - 100/110H/200
James Gregory - 3200m
Lindsay Johnson - Triple Jump
Damonique McClure - Discuss

Top contributors from the girls came from sophomore Destiny Todd with second place finishes in the 4x800, 400m, 800m, and 4x400m. Lindsay Johnson also provided an impressive performance all around placing in the Triple Jump, Long Jump, 4x100, and 200m.
The most exciting part of the meet came with the boys 4x400 photo finish against Cheraw High School. DeVante Benjamin, Travis Butler, Trevon Gasque, and Bryon Williams ran neck and neck against Cheraw finishing the race with the relay’s team fastest time of 3.42.01. First place went to Cheraw literally by a finger nail. The meet ended with the first place overall team trophy going to Indian Land High School Boys.
Over 25 runners qualified for the Upper State meet schedule to take place May 7, 2011.
